New Visiting Fellows

Dr Halmagyi and Prof Bais are new Visiting Fellows to the Department

  • Dr Nick Halmagyi (Department of Physics and Astronomy, University of Southern California, Los Angeles) will be a Visiting Fellow in the Department of Theoretical Physics, RSPhysSE, from May 16th until June 11th. Dr Halmagyi is a former honours student of Prof Bouwknegt and just completed his PhD at USC under supervision of Prof Warner. He will be taking up a prestigious McCormick Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Chicago in August 2005. Dr Halamagyi will be working with Prof Bouwknegt and his group on aspects of String Theory.
  • Prof Sander Bais (Institute for Theoretical Physics, University of Amsterdam) will will be a Visiting Fellow in the Department of Theoretical Physics, RSPhysSE, from July 20th until September 1st. Prof Bais is a world expert on Quantum Field Theory (monopoles, solitons) and String Theory. He will be visiting Prof Bouwknegt (who was Prof Bais' first PhD student), and will be presenting various seminars and public lectures.
